Gravity Quilt

February 27, 2017 By admin Leave a Comment

I started working on the Gravity Quilt (Jaybird Quilts) by Julie Herman, and it’s the most challenging pattern I’ve made to date.

This pattern book was a block of the month, but I must’ve missed that detail when I purchased the 45 page pattern book.

I was at Joann’s Fabric Store and was going to buy the fat quarters needed to get the colored diamonds started and when I figured up the cost, it was well over $250.00. Each block needs 6 different shades and there are 18 different blocks. At Joann’s prices per fat quarter $2.35 x 6 x 18 = $253.80; that was too expensive, so I decided to start the quilt by using only my scraps. I had enough scraps to complete all 18 blocks.

Here are a few  diamonds that I’ve put together.

I finally finished all 18 blocks and have bought my solids for the outside blocks.

Here are the background colors.

I have all of the last blocks cut out and the colored blocks are labeled and ready to go. I can’t wait to see this baby finished.

I’m creating Magic Ya’ll!!! I’m loving it so far and am ready to see the completed pattern. Stay tuned for more.

Quilter’s Day Out

February 27, 2017 By admin Leave a Comment

This Saturday, February 26, 2017, was my first quilt show at the Paroquet Springs in Shepherdsville, KY. http://www.quiltersdayout.com/

I was there helping at the booth with the Louisville Modern Quilt Guild. We have many our members quilts and samples displayed all over the booth and hanging up on the back wall. I was tickled because my biggest quilt to date was displayed. The Crazy Green one, the first long arm quilted item that I have made to date.

We demoed the Wonky Star and ran out of our directions in less than a few hours. The place was packed with quilters and creative people.

I had a lot of fun and look forward to going to more shows. Jenny and I are planning on going in April to the American Quilt Show in Paducah, KY. Until next time my friends, create some magic.
